Best Mutations in Steal an Egg: Multiplier Ranking (2026)
Steal an Egg mutations ranked from Rainbow x3.5 to Silver x1.2: multipliers, how to get each one and which pets are worth putting them on (as of 17 October 2026).

A mutation is an income multiplier that is permanently attached to a pet. A good mutation on a good pet can make a bigger difference than half an hour of running around the biomes. Below is a ranking of all mutations by multiplier, where to get them and which pets to use them on (as of 17 October 2026).
Items for Steal an Egg are in the DzikShop storeBefore you start: the developers have not published an official mutation table. The numbers come from the game wiki on Fandom and from sites that measure them in the game, and some of the newer values are estimates. Where that is the case, I say so directly.
Mutation ranking by multiplier
| Place | Mutation | Multiplier | How to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Rainbow | x3.5 | Random roll when hatching (weight 1 in 100), Fuse Machine |
| 2 | Parasite | x3 | Parasite Egg from the Hungry Frog event, not from normal eggs |
| 3 | Enchanted | about x2.75-2.8 (estimate) | Enchanted Essence from the Butterfly Bloom event |
| 4 | Fractured | x2.75 | Mutation Consumable from the Boss Shop, 10% chance |
| 4 | Scrambled | x2.75 | Mutation Consumable from the Experiment Shop, 10% chance |
| 4 | Nitro | x2.75 (unconfirmed) | Consumable from Nitro Race event rewards, 10% chance |
| 7 | Golden | x2.5 | Random roll when hatching (weight 4 in 100), Fuse Machine |
| 7 | Spirit Bloom | x2.5 | Sakura Incubator |
| 9 | Bloom | x1.25 | Sakura Incubator |
| 10 | Silver | x1.2 | Random roll when hatching (weight 6 in 100), Fuse Machine |
The values for Rainbow, Parasite, Fractured, Scrambled, Golden, Bloom and Silver match on the wiki and in several lists. Older guides sometimes give Golden as x2, but the wiki and newer lists say x2.5. The Enchanted multiplier is uncertain: a list on Yahoo Tech gives x2.8, and other sites give anything from x2.4 to x3.2.
Where mutations come from
The split is simple: some are rolled on their own, others you have to actively get.
Rolled when hatching: Silver, Golden, Rainbow. On the wiki the weights are 6, 4 and 1 in 100, so roughly every tenth pet is mutated. Rainbow is that one shot in a hundred.
Consumables from events: Fractured, Scrambled, Nitro, Enchanted. You apply them to an egg before it hatches. Fractured, Scrambled and Nitro have a 10% chance to work. Enchanted requires reaching the Enchanted Forest. According to one site you need 50B Speed and the Wisp quests for that, but this is unofficial data. I explain where to get that Speed in the guide to getting Speed fast.
Event-based, with an uncertain status: Parasite, Bloom, Spirit Bloom. Parasite does not drop from normal eggs, only from its own Parasite Egg. You apply Bloom and Spirit Bloom in the Sakura Incubator, but the wiki marks this method as currently inactive. Before you plan anything around these mutations, check in the game whether the event has returned.
Which consumable is worth farming
With a 10% chance, you need about ten tries on average for one successful mutation. According to Lootester's list, one try costs 475 Trophies (Nitro), 475 Samples (Scrambled) or 400 Boss Tokens (Fractured). This is data from a single source, with no confirmation in the official notes.
I described the Scramble event separately in the post about Dr. Scramble. The wiki links Fractured to the Rift Boss event, which after Update 3 started every 30 minutes. Update 6 changed the trading system in the Rift, so check whether the Boss Shop still works.
Size usually matters more than color
The mutation is only one part of the formula. A pet's income is the base value times the mutation multiplier times the size multiplier, and size is calculated from weight in kilograms. The wiki says that up to 125 times the base weight, income grows with the weight raised to the power of 37/60. Above that limit, the gains start to shrink.
A few rough numbers from the wiki:
- a pet 100 times heavier than the base gives about x17 of the base value,
- at 200 times heavier it comes to about x23,
- at 1000 times heavier about x45.
The conclusion: a heavy pet with no mutation can give more than a light Rainbow. Of course, the best is a heavy pet with a good mutation. Just remember that a big egg is heavier, so you will be slower with it (the Pets and Eggs page warns about this).
Do mutations add together
There is no agreement here. Several sites, including Eggipedia, say the bonuses add up to 100% of the base: Golden (+150%) plus Rainbow (+250%) gives x5, not x8.75. Other sources talk about multiplying, and Fandom only shows an example of multiplying color by size.
In practice: do not plan anything around a specific total. Try it on a cheap egg and compare the result with the pet card.
Which pets are worth keeping with mutations
The multiplier works on the base value, so the same mutation on a high-tier pet gives much more than on a weak one. It pays off most like this:
- Rainbow, Parasite and Enchanted: keep them on the best pets you have, ideally Divine or Eternal (you can find the pet ranking in a separate post).
- Consumables (Fractured, Scrambled, Nitro): put them on the heaviest eggs with the highest base. An x2.75 mutation on a small egg is not much use.
- Silver and Bloom (x1.2 and x1.25) are the weakest mutations. They only make sense on pets you already have in your inventory, and it is not worth spending consumables on them.
- Golden (x2.5) on a big pet is often enough to keep it for longer.
A simple rule: take the biggest base, the biggest weight, and only then the mutation on top. A low-rarity pet with a good mutation sometimes makes up the difference, but it rarely beats a high pet in the same variant.
Variants are a separate matter
Besides the color mutations, the game has variants tied to specific eggs. According to the wiki, the Luminous Egg has a rare chance to reroll and the Luminous variant. The Extinction Egg has a small chance to reroll and a rare Skeletal version. The Monster Egg used to give the Mecha variant, and Monstrous applied to monsters from the Titan Temple. One list gives about x10 for Luminous, but this is not confirmed, so treat it as a rumor to check in the game.
The Extinction Egg, the egg with a reroll, is also available in the DzikShop shop.

How to look for mutated eggs
Several sites claim that mutated eggs stand out by the color or shine of the shell, so you can spot them in the nest. However, the wiki warns in its section on eggs that the egg's color alone does not affect income. Be careful with this: if you clearly see a glowing egg, grab it. Eggs reset every 5 minutes, so you lose nothing, and you will see the mutation on the card after hatching.

What is the best mutation in Steal an Egg?
Rainbow with an x3.5 multiplier is the highest confirmed value on the list. You can get it from the random roll when an egg hatches (weight 1 in 100) or on eggs that already appear mutated.
Do mutations add together or multiply?
Sources disagree. Several sites say the bonuses add up (Golden + Rainbow is x5, not x8.75), but there is no official table from the developers. Check the exact value on the pet card in the game.
What matters more: the mutation or the pet's size?
Often the size. According to the formula on the wiki, a pet that weighs 100 times more than the base weight gives about x17 of the base income, while the highest mutation is x3.5. The two multipliers combine, so the best choice is a heavy pet with a good mutation.
What multiplier does the Enchanted mutation have?
The developers have not published it. Sites list values from about x2.4 to x3.2, and one measurement in the game came out as x2.75. Treat it as an estimate.
Which mutations can you get today?
Silver, Golden and Rainbow are rolled when an egg hatches. Fractured, Scrambled, Nitro and Enchanted come from consumables from events. The wiki describes Parasite, Bloom and Spirit Bloom as unavailable or event-dependent, so check that in the game.
