Murder Mystery 2 weapon values: where they come from and how to trade safely

What decides a weapon's value in MM2? Godly, Ancient and Chroma rarities, demand, value lists and safe trading rules, explained in plain words.

Why is one knife in Murder Mystery 2 worth half an inventory while another one, of the same rarity, is worth almost nothing? Value in MM2 is not built into the game. The players set it themselves, and here we explain how that works and how to trade without losing out.

Items for Murder Mystery 2 are in the DzikShop store

In this article we deliberately don't give specific numbers. They change several times a week, and any number would be out of date before you finish reading.

Tiers, the colored rarities

Every weapon in MM2 has a tier. According to the Murder Mystery 2 wiki it looks like this (from the most common):

  • Common (gray): the most widespread weapons, often in less popular colors.
  • Uncommon (blue): a bit rarer, but easy to come across.
  • Rare (green): more interesting designs, still fairly available.
  • Legendary (red): simple but eye-catching designs.
  • Godly (pink): the most wanted weapons in the game. From boxes they usually drop with a 0.2% chance, which is 1 in 500.
  • Ancient (purple): usually from events, for example Halloween and Christmas ones, through gamepasses or reward milestones. There are the fewest of these weapons in the game.
  • Unique (orange): the hardest to get, mostly rewards for top places in event rankings. Most of them can't be traded, and the best-known exception is Corrupt.
  • Vintage (yellow): weapons carried over from the first Murder Mystery.

There is also Chroma, which means versions of Godly weapons that smoothly change color. They belong to the Godly tier, but the chance to get them is very small. New chromas arrive with events, for example Summer Event 2026 added Chroma Icecream, Chroma Sands and Chroma Beachy.

An important point that the wiki itself makes: some weapons are rarer than some weapons in the tier above. So the color is only a starting point, not a price.

What really sets the value

Since the game has no currency you could use to buy someone else's knife, value comes from how much people are willing to give for something. The most popular community list, Supreme Values, describes in its guide several things you need to look at at the same time.

Value and Range

Value is the base worth of an item. Range is the span in which it is usually traded. If a weapon has a wide range, one person will give you less for it and another more, and both will be a little bit right.

Demand

It shows how much players want a given weapon. An item with high demand is easy to trade and you often get more for it. With weak demand, people offer less or don't want to talk at all.

Rarity, meaning how many copies are around in the game

This isn't about the tier color, but about the number of copies. The fewer copies there are, the bigger the chance that someone will overpay to finally have something almost nobody has.

Stability

The most interesting column. Supreme Values has a whole scale: from Rising (the value will almost surely go up) through Overpaid For, Doing Well, Improving, Fluctuating, Receding and Stable, all the way to Underpaid For, Decreasing and Unsafe. If a weapon is "Underpaid For", people usually give less for it than the list shows. The list itself adds that a value drop in the changelog doesn't always mean the item is "dying". Sometimes it's just a correction to real trades.

Sets

A knife and a gun from the same event are often traded together as a set. Supreme Values has a separate category for them.

Value lists: a help, not an oracle

According to the Supreme Values FAQ there is no official MM2 value list. Neither Nikilis, the game's creator, nor other developers have announced one. The wiki names two main sites: MM2Values, which counts value in Seers, and Supreme Values, which uses its own units and, according to the wiki, is much more popular today.

A few rules for using the lists:

  • Check the update date. Supreme Values shows it at the top of the page.
  • Look at demand and stability, not just the number itself.
  • Compare with real offers on the server. The list shows what happens "usually", and single trades can look different.
  • Supreme Values was created in 2020, among other reasons, to make so-called sharking harder, which means taking advantage of players who don't know the values. If someone pushes hard for you to agree quickly, check the list twice.

What messes up values

MM2's history shows that values can drop a lot. The game once had duping, a bug that let people double items. Because of it, Corrupt, chromas, Icewing and Batwing and others got cheaper, since suddenly there were more of them. Most duper accounts were banned and some values came back. New events also shake up the market, because they add new weapons to the game.

How to trade safely in MM2

Trading in MM2 works in the in-game trade window. You click a player's nickname in the list in the top right corner and choose "Trade". According to the wiki page on trading you can trade from level 10, you put up to 4 different items into one trade (each in multiple copies), and after each item you add you have to wait 6 seconds before you can accept.

Rules that will save you some stress:

  1. Before accepting, check once more what is on the other side. That is exactly what those 6 seconds are for.
  2. Don't believe in items you can't see in the trade window. Effects, emotes and radios can't be traded. In 2022 scammers used a bug to show such things in the offer, but they never reached the other person.
  3. Don't agree to "you go first, then me". Anything that happens outside the in-game trade window relies only on trust.
  4. Don't click links from strangers and don't paste code into your browser. Supreme Values warns about such tricks and about requests for files from your Roblox account (for example a .HAR file).
  5. Never give out your password or two-step verification codes. Roblox Support reminds you that Roblox staff never ask for them.
  6. Report scammers through Report Abuse in Roblox.

Also remember that the MM2 wiki describes trading as risky: scams, trade window bugs and data loss do happen. It's better not to trade in a rush.

Frequently asked questions

What decides a weapon's value in MM2?

How many copies exist in the game, how much players want it and how it behaves in recent trades. Rarity alone, meaning the tier color, is just a starting point.

Is there an official Murder Mystery 2 value list?

No. The game's creator has not released an official value list. The most popular lists, like Supreme Values and MM2Values, are made by the community.

Which is rarer in MM2: Godly or Ancient?

Ancient is a tier above Godly, and there are the fewest of these weapons in the game. Above that there are only Unique weapons, which mostly can't be traded.

What is Chroma in MM2?

Chroma is a version of a Godly weapon that smoothly changes colors. It belongs to the Godly tier, but the chance to get one from a box is very small, so it is usually worth much more than the regular version.

What level do you need to trade in MM2?

Level 10. This limit was added in late 2021 to make item duplication harder.
