In Steal a Brainrot, a mutation multiplies a Brainrot's income per second: from 1.25x for Gold up to 14x for Eclipse. Every Brainrot has at most one mutation. Below is the full list, as of 19 October 2026.

How mutations work in Steal a Brainrot

A mutation changes how a Brainrot looks (color, texture, effects) and how much it earns. Don't mix it up with Traits: there is only one mutation, but a Brainrot can have several Traits.

The game's wiki gives this formula: base income times the mutation multiplier, and the Trait multipliers get added on top of that multiplier. Here is the wiki's example with a Brainrot that makes 65M/s at base:

  • no mutation: 1x, so 65M/s,
  • Gold: 1.25x, so about 81M/s,
  • Cyber: 11x, so 715M/s,
  • Gold plus a 5x Trait: 1.25 + 5 = 6.25x, so about 406M/s.

Takeaway: Traits add to the mutation, they don't multiply it. That's why a strong Trait can give more than a weak mutation.

Permanent and limited

Gold, Diamond and Rainbow are permanent mutations. They show up on Brainrots that come down the Red Carpet, with a 10%, 5% and 1% chance respectively. They are the only mutations you can run into at any time.

The rest are limited mutations, tied to events. According to the wiki, you can no longer get the ones from Bloodrot to Cyber normally, only during Admin Abuse. Phantom, Crystal and Eclipse still have their events in the game.

Eclipse: the newest and strongest

Eclipse is the newest mutation, previously called Celestial. It arrived in early October 2026 (the wiki says 2 October, the event page says 3 October). Brainrots get it with a small chance during the Eclipse event.

The sources differ on some details. The mutation table on the wiki and RBLXGuide say 14x, while the wiki's event page says 13.5x. They also disagree on how often it happens: the event page says every hour on weekends and every two hours on weekdays, while the mutation table says every half hour. Check in the game when the event starts.

How to recognize a mutation by its look

You can see a mutation right away on the Brainrot's model. According to the wiki's descriptions:

  • Gold: yellow, golden color.
  • Diamond: cyan, diamond-like.
  • Rainbow: cycles through the colors of the rainbow.
  • Bloodrot: dark red.
  • Candy: pink.
  • Lava: neon orange.
  • Galaxy: neon purple.
  • Yin Yang: black and white.
  • Radioactive: neon green with a dashed texture.
  • Cursed: red and black, with red symbols and red eyes.
  • Divine: light yellow with white symbols.
  • Cyber: black and blue, partly transparent or neon.
  • Phantom: transparent black that flickers, with eyes and teeth flashing white.
  • Crystal: purple-blue with white flashes.
  • Eclipse: black with yellow parts and a bright sun above its head.

From Radioactive up, the seasonal mutations have a special texture, so they're easy to tell apart from a plain color.

Divine and Halo

Divine has the same multiplier as Rainbow (10x), but the wiki points out one thing: Brainrots with Divine can get a special Trait called Halo. Since Traits add to the multiplier, a Divine with Halo can earn more than a Rainbow without a Trait.

How to get mutations in Steal a Brainrot

You have four ways:

  1. Red Carpet. Every Brainrot walking down the carpet can have Gold, Diamond or Rainbow. Keep an eye on the carpet and grab the ones with a mutation.
  2. Weather events. During an event (for example Eclipse), Brainrots have a small chance of getting that event's mutation.
  3. Admin Abuse. According to the wiki, every Saturday after the update the developers run Admin Abuse, usually for 30-60 minutes, and on Tuesdays there is Taco Tuesday. They can start several events at once then, and the Mutation Rain command makes some Brainrots appear with a guaranteed random mutation.
  4. Stealing. You can simply steal a Brainrot with a mutation from another player. We explain how to do it well in the beginner's guide to Steal a Brainrot.

There used to be a Rainbow Machine too: you put in 25 Gold Brainrots and for 15 minutes the chance of Rainbow kept growing. The wiki says the machine was replaced by the Bubblegum Machine and today only an admin can start it.

Collection bonus: base skins

Mutations are not only about income. If you collect at least 75% of all available Brainrots with one mutation, you unlock a special base look. You can check your progress in the Index and change the skin in the settings. It goes easiest with Gold, because it is the most common mutation.

Which mutations are the most valuable

Going by the multiplier alone, the ranking looks like this:

  1. Eclipse (14x)
  2. Crystal (13x)
  3. Phantom (12x)
  4. Cyber (11x)
  5. Rainbow and Divine (10x each)

Remember though that the multiplier works on base income. Gold on a top Brainrot can give more than Eclipse on a weak Brainrot. Aim for strong Brainrots first and only then for mutations. We listed which ones are the best in the Brainrot ranking, and how much they are worth in the post on Brainrot values.

For example, the DzikShop shop has Brainrots with mutations from this list:

Most common mistakes with mutations

  • Looking only at the mutation. Eclipse on a weak Brainrot is still not much money. What counts is the result of the multiplication, not the name alone.
  • Forgetting about Traits. A 5x Trait adds more than the difference between Rainbow and Eclipse (4x). Check both.
  • Only playing outside events. Limited mutations drop during events and Admin Abuse, so it's worth being in the game then and keeping an eye on your base.
  • Weak base defense. A Brainrot with a mutation is the thieves' first target. Keep the most valuable ones where they are hardest to carry off.

What next

As the dates in the table show, in 2026 a new mutation arrived every 1-3 months, together with a new event. We describe what came out most recently in the post on Update 71 and the Skeleton Event. If a new mutation shows up in the game, we'll add it to the table.
