A mutation can turn an average Brainrot into a money machine, because it multiplies its income per second by even more than ten times. In this post you get all mutations in Steal a Brainrot, their multipliers from best to worst and how to get them. As of 22 October 2026.
Items for Steal a Brainrot are in the DzikShop storeHow mutations work
A mutation changes the look of a Brainrot and multiplies its income. One Brainrot can have only one mutation, unlike traits, where there can be several.
The wiki counts income like this: base income times the mutation multiplier, and then you add the bonuses from traits. An example from the wiki: Ventoliero Pavonero has a base income of 65M/s.
- No mutation (1x): 65M/s.
- Gold (1.25x): about 81.25M/s.
- Cyber (11x): 715M/s.
- Cyber (11x) plus two traits of 5x each (Fire and Nyan): a 21x multiplier, which is about 1.365B/s.
According to the game wiki, traits are not multiplied by the mutation, they are added to it. So a good trait on a weak mutation will not do as much as a strong mutation.
Mutation ranking from best to worst
Below are all mutations from the wiki, from the strongest to the weakest. The wiki gives the Eclipse multiplier (14x), but some sources say it has not been officially published, so treat it with care.
- Eclipse: 14x (according to the wiki). The newest one on the list, added on 2 October 2026 in Update 69. The Brainrot turns black, with yellow parts (eyes, legs) and a bright sun above it.
- Crystal: 13x. Purple and blue, with white accents and sparkles. According to the wiki, it appeared on 25 July 2026.
- Phantom: 12x. A see-through black Brainrot that keeps disappearing and coming back. Added on 13 June 2026.
- Cyber: 11x. Black and blue, with a cybernetic pattern. Added on 18 April 2026.
- Rainbow: 10x. The Brainrot changes RGB colors. A permanent mutation, available since 21 June 2025.
- Divine: 10x. Light yellow and white, with white symbols. Added on 21 February 2026.
- Cursed: 9x. Red and black, with red symbols and red eyes. Added on 3 January 2026.
- Radioactive: 8.5x. Neon green with a checkered texture. Added on 15 November 2025.
- Yin Yang: 7.5x. Black and white. Added on 27 September 2025.
- Galaxy: 7x. Neon purple. Added on 23 August 2025.
- Lava: 6x. Neon orange. Added on 25 July 2025.
- Candy: 4x. Pink. Added on 5 July 2025.
- Bloodrot: 2x. Dark red, the first mutation with a limited event.
- Diamond: 1.5x. Cyan, since 31 May 2025.
- Gold: 1.25x. Yellow-gold, since 31 May 2025.
- Default: 1x. No mutation.
With a base income of 65M/s, Crystal gives 845M/s. The same example is given by Lootester. For Eclipse with a 14x multiplier it comes to about 910M/s, but that is our own calculation and it will work only if the multiplier is confirmed.
Which mutations you can get on the Red Carpet
On the normal Red Carpet, only three permanent mutations show up. The wiki gives these chances:
- Gold: 10% chance, 1.25x multiplier.
- Diamond: 5% chance, 1.5x multiplier.
- Rainbow: 1% chance, 10x multiplier. The chance goes up during the Rainbow Machine event.
So Rainbow is the best mutation you can get without waiting for a special event. Eldorado also rates it as the best normal mutation. Gold and Diamond are the most common, but their multipliers are low.
Limited and event mutations
The wiki counts everything from Bloodrot to Eclipse as limited and describes them as not available without Admin Abuse. During the event of a given mutation, there is a chance that it will be applied to a Brainrot.
Not all events have separate names, but a few do, for example: Bloodmoon for Bloodrot, Candy Aurora for Candy, Molten for Lava and Galactic for Galaxy. You can check the full list of event names on the wiki.
The wiki describes older events as started every 1/3 or every 1/2 hour. For Phantom, Crystal and Eclipse, activation every half hour is listed. Eclipse is part of Update 69 with Haunted Fuse, a spin wheel, an index and a base skin. According to The Click, the event window of this update ended on 7 October, so check in the game whether Eclipse is still active. We described a newer Halloween update in a separate post: Steal a Brainrot Update 71 and Skeleton Event.
Index and base skins
Mutations also have their own index. According to the wiki, collecting at least 75% (3/4) of all available Brainrots with one mutation unlocks a unique base skin. You change skins in the settings by choosing an unlocked skin from the list.
Eldorado gives a 50% threshold for Crystal. That is why you should check the requirements in the index in the game. The wiki also mentions an Eclipse Index with its own base skin, but it is not known what its threshold is.
Fun facts worth knowing
The information below comes from the Trivia section on the Fandom wiki and we do not have a second source for it.
- The wiki notes that Divine has the same multiplier as Rainbow, but Brainrots with Divine can get the special Halo trait.
- According to the wiki, the Disco mutation was supposed to come after Divine, but the creator Sammy dropped it and replaced it with Cyber.
- According to the wiki, the Frost mutation was supposed to come after Phantom, but Crystal was introduced in the end.
- The wiki describes the Mutation Rain command: it guarantees that a set number of Brainrots will appear with a random mutation. It was first added in Update 51 for the game's anniversary.
What pays off in practice
If you play without events, aim for Rainbow on the Red Carpet and do not sell Gold or Diamond too early. Until you have stronger Brainrots, they still boost your income.
If you catch events, a mutation makes the most sense on a Brainrot that already earns well on its own. A high multiplier on a weak Brainrot will give less than a lower one on a strong Brainrot. You can find rankings of the characters themselves in the guide Best Brainrots in Steal a Brainrot. A description of how mutations work in the game is also in the post Mutations in Steal a Brainrot.
