A mutation in Grow a Garden 2 multiplies the price of a fruit when you sell it, from 1.5x all the way up to 100x. The strongest are Glow (100x) and Eclipsed (80x), and the easiest to get are Gold and Rainbow. Below is the full list, current as of 19 October 2026.

The rules are simple, but a few details change how much you earn a lot:
- One fruit, one mutation. Mutations don't stack. A new one doesn't add on top of the old one.
- Most mutations are rolled when you harvest. If you harvest a fruit during weather (for example Lightning), you get a last chance for it to catch that weather's mutation. Only Gold and Rainbow can also show up while the plant is still growing.
- The final price is, according to the game wiki, the base price times the fruit size times the mutation multiplier. On top of that, every friend on the same server adds +10%.
- Single-harvest plants get less. The wiki gives a formula: only 15% of the extra multiplier counts. So Gold (10x) on such a plant is 1 + 9 x 0.15 = about 2.35x. That's why mutations pay off the most on multi-harvest plants.

List of mutations in Grow a Garden 2 (as of 19 October 2026)
The table follows the game wiki. The chance is the base chance on a fruit at harvest, before you add pets and other bonuses.
| Mutation | Multiplier | Chance at harvest | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glow | 100x | 1% | Star Fruit plant |
| Eclipsed | 80x | 1% | Eclipse weather (from Eclipse Bloom) |
| Bloodlit | 60x | 1% | Blood Moon at night |
| Ignited | 60x | 1% | Sunburst weather |
| Chakra | 60x | 1% | Kitsune pet |
| Starstruck | 50x | 1% | Starfall weather |
| Rainbow | 30x | 0.33% | Rainbow Seed, Rainbow weather |
| Electric | 25x | 0.33% | Lightning weather |
| Amber | 20x | 1% | Amber Cranberry plant |
| Veil | 20x | 1% | Shadow Dragon pet |
| Frozen | 14x | 1% | Snowfall weather |
| Gold | 10x | 1% | Gold Seed, Gold Moon |
| Aurora | 1.5x | 1% | Aurora weather |
Gold and Rainbow can also show up while the plant is growing, with a 0.1% and 0.033% chance respectively.
Heads up: sites list different numbers
For a few mutations the sources don't agree. The wiki and Beebom list Aurora 1.5x, Frozen 14x and Bloodlit 60x. Driffle lists Aurora 40x, Frozen 20x and Bloodlit 70x and says some earlier lists had mistakes. In the table we stick with the wiki, because it's edited all the time. If something changes in the game, we'll update the text.
Mutations that aren't in the game yet
The wiki also has a section for mutations that are in the game files but can't be obtained normally: Pizza (5x, from the Pizza Moon weather), Chained (8x, from Chained Moon), Solarflare (5x) and Secret (multiplier unknown). Driffle also describes Chained, Solarflare and Pizza as unavailable. Don't count on them until the developers release them.
How to get mutations: weather
All servers have the same weather at the same time. According to the wiki, this is how it looks during the day:
| Weather | Chance | Duration | Mutation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lightning | 23.08% | 5 minutes | Electric |
| Rainbow | 15.38% | 5 minutes | Rainbow (higher chance) |
| Snowfall | 7.69% | 2.5 minutes | Frozen |
| Starfall | 7.69% | 2.5 minutes | Starstruck |
| Aurora | 7.69% | 2.5 minutes | Aurora |
| Sunburst | 7.69% | 5 minutes | Ignited |
The most common weather, Rain, doesn't give mutations, but it makes plants grow twice as fast.
Night lasts 2 minutes and picks a moon. Blood Moon (about 2%) gives Bloodlit. Gold Moon (about 13%) and Rainbow Moon (about 6%) don't mutate fruits by themselves, but Gold Seed and Rainbow Seed appear on the map to collect. Remember that at night other players can steal plants, so keep an eye on your garden.
How to get mutations: Gold and Rainbow seeds
This is the simplest way to a guaranteed mutation. Gold Seed always grows into a random shop plant with the Gold mutation, and Rainbow Seed into a plant with the Rainbow mutation. The rarer the plant, the lower the chance that it's the one picked.
According to the wiki, the chance for these seeds to appear at night goes up when there are more players on the server, and it's higher on a public server than a private one. The seeds are also available in the DzikShop shop:

How to get mutations: pets
Two mythical pets double the chance of the most popular mutations:
- Golden Dragonfly doubles the chance of Gold. It appears on the map with a 0.6% chance and costs 3,000,000 Sheckles.
- Unicorn doubles the chance of Rainbow. It appears on the map with a 0.71% chance for 4,000,000 Sheckles, or drops from the Common Egg (0.3%). It only works while you're in your own garden.
Big and Mega versions boost this ability (Big x2, Mega x3), and the Rainbow version adds another x1.25. A Mega Rainbow Unicorn multiplies the Rainbow chance by as much as x5.75. Two identical pets don't add up.
There are also pets for rarer mutations. Kitsune steals fruit from empty gardens at night, and a stolen fruit has a 20% chance of getting Chakra (60x). Shadow Dragon used to give a chance of Veil when planting, but it came from the Fall Harvest event and, according to the wiki, can't be obtained anymore. The same goes for the Amber Cranberry plant.
How to get Glow and Eclipsed
The two most valuable mutations need specific plants.
Glow (100x): Star Fruit glows at night and every so often hits a random plant in your garden with a beam, giving it the Glow mutation. According to the wiki, Star Fruit costs 315,000,000 Sheckles or 1899 Robux in the Seed Shop and shows up in the shop with only a 0.12% chance.
Eclipsed (80x): you need an Eclipse Bloom. You can't buy it in the shop, you make it by combining fully grown Sun Bloom and Moon Bloom with the Trowel tool (the plants can't be in pots). Harvesting a fruit from an Eclipse Bloom starts the Eclipse weather, during which fruits can get the Eclipsed mutation.

Which mutations are the most valuable
Looking at the multiplier alone, the order is clear: Glow, Eclipsed, then the three 60x ones (Bloodlit, Ignited, Chakra) and Starstruck. In practice, though, what matters is what you can get regularly:
- Gold and Rainbow are the basics, because seeds and pets give them, not just weather luck.
- Electric is the most common weather with a mutation, so it's worth having ripe fruits then.
- Glow and Eclipsed are a goal for later, once you have a strong economy.
- Aurora is only 1.5x according to the wiki, so it's not worth waiting for on purpose.
The most important tip: save mutations for multi-harvest plants and expensive fruits. The same mutation on a cheap single-harvest fruit gives you pennies. You can find more about earning in the article how to earn money fast in Grow a Garden 2.
How this differs from the first Grow a Garden
The multipliers from the first game don't fit the sequel, and many guides online mix them up. If you play both games, we cover the mutations from the original separately in the guide to mutations in Grow a Garden. To read what else changed in the sequel, see the article Grow a Garden 2: what's new.

What is the best mutation in Grow a Garden 2?
Glow (100x) has the highest multiplier, and it comes from the Star Fruit plant. Right behind it is Eclipsed (80x) from the Eclipse weather, which starts when you harvest an Eclipse Bloom.
Do mutations stack in Grow a Garden 2?
No. A fruit can only have one mutation at a time, so you can't get something like Gold and Rainbow on the same fruit.
How do I get the Rainbow mutation in Grow a Garden 2?
Most reliably through the Rainbow Seed, which always grows with the Rainbow mutation. The Rainbow weather and the Unicorn pet, which doubles the chance of this mutation, also raise your chance of Rainbow.
Why is my mutated carrot worth so little?
Single-harvest plants only get part of the mutation bonus. According to the game wiki, only 15% of the extra multiplier counts, so Gold (10x) gives about 2.35x on them.
When is the Blood Moon in Grow a Garden 2?
Blood Moon is one of the moons that can show up at night. According to the wiki it has about a 2% chance per night and lasts 2 minutes, and during that time fruits can get the Bloodlit mutation.
