Grow a Garden 2 looks familiar, but it plays differently from the first game. The biggest difference: every few minutes night falls, and other players can rob your garden. This guide walks you through your first hour of playing so you don't lose your crops and quickly get into the rhythm (as of October 2026).

Items for Grow a Garden 2 are in the DzikShop store

How the day cycle works

A full day in the game lasts 10 minutes: 7.5 minutes of day, 30 seconds of sunset and 2 minutes of night. During the day you can calmly plant, harvest and sell. At night stealing begins, so it is a good idea to be at home then.

Also remember that your garden keeps growing while you are offline. Before you leave, plant something that takes a long time to ripen.

Your first seeds

You buy seeds from Sam in the Seed Shop. The shop restocks every 5 minutes, and rarer seeds show up less often. According to the Grow a Garden 2 wiki, these are always available:

Seed Price Type
Carrot 1 single harvest
Strawberry 10 multi-harvest
Blueberry 25 multi-harvest
Tulip 40 single harvest

Tomato (200 Sheckles) is in the shop in 9 out of 10 restocks and is also multi-harvest.

Multi-harvest plants give fruit many times from one seed, so they are the best investment at the start. There is a second reason too: in the sequel, single-harvest plants only get part of a mutation's bonus. A fruit from a multi-harvest plant with the same mutation is worth a lot more.

Claim the codes

You enter codes in the settings (top left corner of the screen). According to the code list on the wiki, these work:

  • TEAMGREENBEAN: 3 Green Bean seeds,
  • WATERYOPLANTS: 10 Common Watering Cans,
  • REMEMBERTODRINKWATER: 1 watering can,
  • FREESEED: 3 Uncommon Seed Packs, but you need 3 invited friends on the server.

Codes can expire without warning, so if one doesn't work, just skip it.

Water and harvest on time

Plants you don't harvest wilt over time. You can tell because they lose their colors, and a wilted fruit is worth 80% less. Watering with a watering can or rain restores the plant's value. Fruits with a mutation don't wilt.

Selling: where you earn and where you lose

You sell your crops to Steven at the Sell Stand. You have three options:

  1. Normal sale. Safe. The "view sell prices" option shows the multipliers for each plant, which change every 10 minutes and range from x0.8 to x4. If your plant happens to have a high multiplier, sell.
  2. Daily Deal. You sell for 2.2 times more, once every 12 hours. Save your best goods for it.
  3. Double or Nothing. You double the value or lose everything you put up. It is plain gambling, and at the start we suggest staying far away from it.

The friends bonus is bigger in the sequel than in the first game: +10% for every friend on the server, up to a maximum of 70%.

Night: steal or guard

When night falls, every garden whose owner is not there is open. Above such a garden you can see an open padlock icon. The rules according to the page about stealing:

  • To guard, just stand in your garden. Then it is closed.
  • To get a fruit back, hit the thief with the Shovel, which you have from the start of the game.
  • To steal, enter an open garden and take a fruit. You have to carry it home on foot, because teleporting is disabled then. Bamboo and Mushroom take longer to steal, 3 seconds.

Watch out for the most common thief tricks: they wait until you go to the shop, they catch you right after you join a server, or they strike during Gold Moon and Rainbow Moon, when everyone is running after seeds. On those nights, think twice before leaving your garden.

Mutations in a nutshell

Mutations multiply a fruit's price. A few important ones for the start, according to the wiki:

  • Gold (x10) and Rainbow (x30): they can appear on their own, and the easiest way to get them is from Gold Seed and Rainbow Seed.
  • Electric (x25): the Lightning storm.
  • Frozen (x14): Snowfall weather.
  • Starstruck (x50): Starfall weather.
  • Bloodlit (x60): a night with Blood Moon.
  • Glow (x100): sometimes given by the Star Fruit plant.

Note that the multipliers in the sequel are different from the first game, so don't carry numbers over from guides for the first part. How it works in the original, we described in the Grow a Garden mutations guide.

Weather also helps with growth itself. Rain doubles the growth speed of all plants and saves wilted ones.

Pets: catch them on the map

In the sequel, pets appear at random places on the map, each with a countdown timer. You buy them with Sheckles before the timer hits zero. Examples from the wiki:

  • Butterfly: 1 million Sheckles, speeds up plant growth by 3% in all players' gardens.
  • Firefly: 3 million, increases the size of newly planted plants.
  • Golden Dragonfly: 3 million, doubles the chance of Gold in your garden.
  • Unicorn: 4 million, doubles the chance of Rainbow. It only works when you are in your garden.
  • Raccoon: 5 million, but it appears very rarely (0.24%). At night it steals fruit from open gardens by itself and raises your steal limit by 25.

A pet can show up in a Big, Mega or Rainbow version, with a stronger ability. You can increase the number of slots for equipped pets 3 times: for 200 thousand, 1 million and 5 million Sheckles.

What to spend your first money on

According to the game's wiki, you can expand your garden 6 times, and each time you get two new plots. Prices rise fast:

  1. 500 Sheckles
  2. 40,000
  3. 1,000,000
  4. 40,000,000
  5. 200,000,000
  6. 1,000,000,000

Get the first expansion right away, because it costs next to nothing. After that, choose between new land, better seeds and pets.

It is also worth checking Garden Stats, where you spend Skill Points to upgrade running, jumping, shovel strength and backpack capacity. A bigger backpack means more fruit per sale.

Guilds and separate worlds

You can join a guild for free if someone invites you (the invitation arrives in the mailbox by your garden). Guilds compete for weekly rewards, and the rewards sometimes include eggs and rare pets.

At the Explorer Stand you can enter separate seasonal worlds. In October the Halloween Ghoul Garden is running, with a cauldron and monsters. These worlds have their own currency and separate progress, so it is a bit like a second game. We write more in our news post about what's new in Grow a Garden 2.

Safety

You send gifts in the game through the mailbox or by dropping an item on the ground. A dropped item can't be taken back, so only do it around people you trust. And most importantly: nobody needs your password to give you anything in the game. More in our article about Roblox account security.
