How to Make Money in Steal an Egg: $/s, Pets and Upgrades (October 2026)
Where $/s comes from in Steal an Egg, why pet size matters so much, how much the Index, selling and the Fuse Machine give you, and what order to spend your money in.

Money in Steal an Egg buys you everything that matters: Treadmill levels, Trails and a bigger Pen. Those give you Speed, which opens biomes with better eggs. The faster you earn, the faster you move forward. Here is how income works and what to spend it on. Current as of October 2026.
Items for Steal an Egg are in the DzikShop storeThe formula that decides your income
Every pet in your Pen earns money every second ($/s). According to the wiki, the final income is:
pet base income × mutation multiplier × size multiplier
That formula gives you five levers for raising your income. We go through them from the strongest.
Lever 1: a better biome, a better pet
Base income depends on the species, and the species depends on the biome. The differences are huge. The best pets from each biome, according to the wiki:
- Forest: Brr Brr Patapim, $1.8K $/s
- Lake: Leviathan, $220K $/s
- Jungle: King Snake, $3.5M $/s
- Volcano: Lava Dragon, $100M $/s
- Cosmic: Unicorn, $1B $/s
- Titan Temple: Nightflame, $3B $/s
- Angels & Demons: ArchAngel and World Burner, $5B $/s each
One good pet from a farther biome earns more than a whole Pen full of early-game pets. That is why the most important "income upgrade" is really Speed. More about it in the post on how to get Speed fast.
Lever 2: pet size
A pet's weight in kilograms is shown on its card. The wiki gives the exact formula: the heavier the pet compared to the species' base weight, the more it earns, but with diminishing returns. In practice:
- a pet 100 times heavier than base earns about 17 times more,
- 200 times heavier: about 23 times more,
- 1000 times heavier: about 45 times more.
The wiki notes that big sizes are easier to get than rare mutations, so size has a huge effect on income. The catch: a big egg is heavy and slows you down on the way back to your base. Details in the post about egg size and pet weight.
Lever 3: mutation
When a pet hatches, it can get a color mutation. The most common ones according to the wiki are Silver (1.2x), Golden (2.5x) and Rainbow (3.5x). A mutation multiplies with size, so a big Rainbow pet can earn more than ten times as much as a normal one. We described all mutations and how to get them in the mutations guide.
Example: the same pet, three different incomes
The wiki shows how size and mutation multiply together. Take a pet that earns $100/s at base:
- normal, no mutation: $100/s,
- Golden and Giant size (2.5 × 3): $750/s, which is 7.5 times more,
- Rainbow and Huge size (3.5 × 5): $1750/s, which is 17.5 times more.
It is the same species from the same biome. That is why, before selling or fusing, you should always look at the weight and mutation, not only at the pet's name. A weak species in a big size with Rainbow can earn more than a normal pet from a farther biome.
Lever 4: every slot in your Pen
An empty slot in your Pen earns zero. It is the most overlooked way to grow your income fast.
- Upgrade your Pen. According to AllThingsHow, level 2 costs $1K, level 3 costs $1M, and a later "+1 EQUIP" upgrade costs $75M. The wiki lists 12 levels, where level 11 costs $500T and level 12 costs a whopping $5Qa. Update 4 also added a base upgrade for an extra pet slot.
- Use Equip Best. The button in the pet menu automatically puts your best earning pets in the Pen.
- Do not wait for perfect pets. GAMES.GG advises filling all the slots even with weaker pets, instead of leaving them empty for rare ones.
Lever 5: money multipliers
- 2x Cash Booster from Dr. Scramble's Experiment Shop: 10 minutes for 275 Samples (according to the wiki).
- Money multipliers from the Boss Shop for Boss Tokens from Rifts.
- X2 Money gamepass for 399 Robux: permanently doubles your earnings. Next to it is X2 Growth Speed (467 Robux), which makes eggs grow faster.
Both gamepasses are also available in DzikShop:

Upgrades
This is an option for people who want a faster pace. Without them you reach the same places, just later.
One-time cash boosts
Besides steady $/s, there are four ways to get a bigger sum right away.
Pet Index. For every new pet you get a reward in money and Speed (the Index button, then Claim All). According to the wiki, that is for example $100 for Chicken, $22M for Leviathan, $6.5B for Ice Dragon and $100B for Unicorn. AllThingsHow calls the Index the fastest way to a big payout.
Selling an egg. At the SELL stand you can sell the egg you are carrying. According to AllThingsHow, the price depends on weight and biome: a 3 kg Lake Egg gave $320, and a 122 kg Desert Egg gave a full $1M.
Selling a pet. First take it out of the Pen (Unequip), then go to the SELL stand next to the Fuse Machine. The price is fixed, for example Catfish for $2K. We write about when it pays off in the post on when to sell pets.
Fuse Machine. You combine three identical pets into one stronger one, which according to guides earns more than all three together. Fusing costs money (AllThingsHow lists $48M for three Pterodactyls) and it can fail, giving a weaker version.
Offline income
Pets earn even when you are not playing. AllThingsHow shows an example of the message you get when you come back to the game: "You earn $16M/Day offline!". The better your Pen, the bigger that amount. That is why you should always click Equip Best before leaving the game.
What to spend on, and in what order
- A full Pen. First the cheap Pen levels ($1K, $1M), because every new slot raises your $/s right away.
- Grey Trail and the Treadmill. Cheap training upgrades that open the next biomes.
- Take turns: Treadmill, Trail, Pen. Buy what you can afford instead of saving up for one huge purchase.
- Fuse Machine, once you have duplicates. Three weak copies take up slots that one strong pet could use instead.
There is no point in hoarding money. Every dollar that sits idle could already be working as a better Treadmill or a new slot in your Pen.
Summary
Income in Steal an Egg comes down to biome, size, mutation, number of slots and multipliers. It grows fastest when your Pen is full, you claim every Index reward and you invest money in Speed, which takes you to better eggs.

How do I make money fast in Steal an Egg?
Fill every slot in your Pen, use Equip Best, claim Index rewards for every new pet, and steal eggs from the farthest biome you can still get back from safely. The Index gives the biggest one-time payouts.
Do pets earn money offline in Steal an Egg?
Yes. According to AllThingsHow, a well-stocked Pen keeps earning even when you are not playing, and the game shows how much you made offline when you come back.
Is it worth selling pets in Steal an Egg?
Usually only the ones that do not fit in your Pen anyway. A pet sells once for a fixed price, but in the Pen it earns every second. Check its size and mutation before selling.
