Are you looking for free Robux? Let's start with the bad news: websites that promise them for typing in your username are traps. The good news is that there are a few legal ways to earn Robux or get them as a gift, you just need to know which ones really work. As of 17 October 2026.

Why "free Robux" is a lie

Roblox says clearly that there are no free Robux, no free subscriptions, no tricks and no codes. According to Roblox, every offer of free Robux, subscriptions or valuable items is a scam that is meant to take over your account.

What does exist is Robux that are "earned" and Robux that are "received as a gift". The difference matters: for the first kind you do something (for example, you make a game), and the second kind is bought for you by someone else. Below is everything that is legal, from the most realistic to the least certain.

You can read more about the currency itself in the guide What are Robux and how to get them.

Roblox Premium is gone, Plus replaced it

A lot of old guides still say that Premium gives 450, 1000 or 2200 Robux a month. That is no longer true. Roblox stopped selling Premium to new subscribers, and Roblox Plus launched on 30 April 2026 and took its place.

What does Plus give you? It costs 4.99 USD a month and does not include Robux, but it gives a 10% discount on items in games and on avatar items (20% from the third month in a row), free private servers and Robux transfers without fees. Robux only appear in optional bundles: with 500, 1000 or 2000 Robux per month. The information about these bundles comes from outside websites, so check on the Roblox Plus page whether they are available in your country.

So this is not a "free" way, it is a paid subscription. People who had Premium before the change still get monthly Robux. New players do not.

Selling passes and items in your own game

This is the only way where Robux really "come in by themselves", but it needs your own game (experience) and players. When you sell a game pass, Roblox keeps 30% and you get 70%. So a pass that costs 100 Robux gives you 70.

Roblox counts a creator's earnings from several sources: sales from the Marketplace or Creator Store, Creator Rewards, in-game purchases, ad revenue in the Publisher program and affiliate commissions.

To be honest: this is not a fast way. Making a game that people buy takes weeks or months of work and learning Studio. If that sounds fun to you, great, but treat it as a project, not as a Robux machine.

And if you are thinking about cashing out real money (DevEx): according to the available information, you need at least 30,000 earned Robux on your account, a verified email and a good reputation. The player must also be at least 13 years old. Check the current requirements on the official Developer Exchange page.

Payouts from a group (Communities)

A group can have its own pool of Robux (group funds), from which the owner pays out Robux to members, for example for scripts or models. Roblox treats such payouts as earned if the group's funds come from real sales. The payout goes to the recipient's Pending Robux first.

You need to be careful here. Sending "strangely large" amounts through groups sometimes ends with account moderation for trading Robux outside the official channel. This is an opinion from the developer forum, not official policy, but it is a warning worth remembering.

The rule is simple: a group payout makes sense only when you really work for the creator in return. "Pay Robux into my group and I will increase your balance" is a classic scam.

A gift card as a present

This is the calmest option for a family. If someone wants to give you a present, a Roblox card is safer than sending money on unknown websites. Such codes are sold by retail chains and other sellers, and which values are available depends on the country and the seller. A code can be exchanged for Robux or a subscription.

A code can only be redeemed on the roblox.com website. If someone tells you to "give it in chat", "send a photo" or enter it on some other website, that is a scam.

Prices and offers at specific sellers can change, so you will find the current information on their websites.

Microsoft Rewards: only if it works in your country

Microsoft Rewards does not give Robux directly. You collect points for activities and exchange them for Roblox gift cards. It will only work if this reward is available for your account.

The catch is availability. Your country and account can show different prices and values than in the USA. Sometimes Microsoft also removes the Roblox card from the list of rewards, with no announcement of when it will return. It is not known whether your country's catalog includes it right now, so check it on your own account: Microsoft Rewards, Redeem, Gift cards.

One warning: a VPN is not a shortcut, because Microsoft forbids exchanging points from another region. The details of the program are described on the Microsoft Rewards page about Roblox. Also remember that a Microsoft account has its own age limits.

How to spot a scam

Scams look different, but they have a few things in common. If you see even one of them, close the page.

  • Robux generator. You type in your username, a progress bar appears, and then comes "verification". Outside generators simply do not work.
  • Surveys and "tasks". Roblox points out that players most often lose their account by giving away their login details or filling in online surveys.
  • A request for your password, 2SV code or "human verification" outside Roblox. Real promotions never ask for a password or a two-step verification code.
  • Files to download and extensions. No legal offer tells you to install a "Robux generator".
  • Time pressure. "Only today", "you will lose your Robux if you don't click". Legal promotions do not put pressure on you like that.
  • Fake websites and addresses. Always check that the address is a real Roblox domain.

Where can you find real promotions? Roblox announces them on its blog, in the Notifications tab in messages or in a banner on the website. If something is not there, it is not an official promotion.

You can read more about phishing and protection in the guide How to secure your Roblox account.

What to do if you already clicked

Stay calm, this happens to many people. Do it step by step:

  1. Change your Roblox password to a unique one and secure the email inbox linked to your account.
  2. Turn on two-step verification (best in an app, not by SMS).
  3. Check the sessions, purchases and trades on your account, and report anything suspicious.
  4. Report the link, message or game with the Report Abuse button.

If you entered payment card details, tell a parent so they can contact the bank. Parents may also find the guide to parental controls on Roblox useful.

Summary

There are three legal ways to get Robux: earn them as a creator, get them as a gift (a gift card) and, if it works for you, Microsoft Rewards. Plus is a subscription with discounts, not free Robux. Everything that promises thousands of Robux for a username or a survey is simply a trap.

Roblox rules and offers change often, so before any decision check the current information in Roblox Help.

Frequently asked questions

Can you get free Robux?

Not in the sense of "for nothing". Roblox says that free Robux, or codes and tricks for them, do not exist. You can earn them as a creator or get them as a gift (for example on a gift card), but no generator website can do it for you.

Does Roblox Premium still give Robux every month?

There are no new Premium subscribers anymore, because on 30 April 2026 Roblox replaced it with the Roblox Plus plan. Plus itself has no monthly Robux amount, and Robux only come with optional bundles (500, 1000 or 2000 per month). As of 17 October 2026.

Can a Robux generator work?

No. Generators, surveys and giveaways are used to steal your password, your data or your clicks, and you can lose your account because of them. Roblox announces real promotions on its blog, in notifications or in a banner on the website.

Does Microsoft Rewards work in my country?

This can't be confirmed in general, because the offer depends on the country and the account. Microsoft lets you exchange points for Roblox cards, but availability can be limited. Check the Redeem tab on your own account and don't use a VPN to force the offer.

What should I do if I clicked a fake Robux website?

Change your password to a unique one, turn on two-step verification, log out of other sessions and report the problem to Roblox support. If you entered card details, tell a parent so they can contact the bank.
