The Veil is an action RPG on Roblox where you go down into a huge maze full of monsters, collect weapons and fight bosses. The game is made by BlackstarDW Studios, and up to 16 people play on one server. Below we explain what it is about and how to survive your first hours.

What kind of game it is

The developers describe The Veil on Roblox as an MMORPG with monster hordes, with both PvE and PvP. They name their inspirations directly: Maze Runner, Made in Abyss and Terraria with the Calamity mod. The game works on PC, phone and console.

According to AllThingsHow, the official launch of Beta v1.0.0 was on 5 September 2026, and the developers release patches every week. The game quickly got a lot of players: as of 19 October 2026 it has over 9 million visits.

What gameplay looks like:

  • you explore the maze, where the chests, materials and the densest groups of monsters are,
  • you collect weapons from bosses, chests and the ground,
  • you follow the main storyline and side quests,
  • you watch out for the night, because there are more monsters then and it gets much more dangerous.

First steps in The Veil

  1. Talk to Maxwell. According to the wiki, he is the first NPC, standing right next to the spawn point. He explains what the game is about and sends you to Isaiah, who gives you your first weapon.
  2. Take a basic weapon. The blacksmith in The Glade has starter gear: Dagger, Greatsword, Rapier and Spear.
  3. Follow the main quest. Both guides, AllThingsHow and Roonby, give the same advice: at the start, stick to the main quest arrows. It teaches you the map, introduces the important NPCs and unlocks fast travel points.
  4. Pick up side quests on the way. An NPC with a quest has an exclamation mark above their head. According to the wiki, a yellow exclamation mark means a class quest.
  5. Enter the maze prepared. Bring healing potions and a Sanity Potion, and leave some free inventory space for loot.

Basic PC controls according to the wiki: TAB is the inventory, Q is dodge, left mouse button is attack, R is critical attack, C is aura. Combat is based on dodging, not blocking.

Sanity: the bar that kills

Next to your health bar you have a green Sanity bar. According to AllThingsHow, it drops at night, and when it reaches zero you die even if you have full HP. It is safe during the day.

You can restore Sanity:

  • at a campfire,
  • at Runner Outpost,
  • with a Sanity Potion. According to the wiki, it gives +20 Sanity and drops from Ancient Bones and Pillar Mimic (1/5 chance).

The most common mistake new players make is going out at night without potions. Always keep a stock for the trip there and back.

Prestige and death

You get Prestige for defeating bosses, rare items and winning against players of a similar or higher level. Each level is +50 max health (you start with 200). According to AllThingsHow, death takes away one Prestige level. That is why it is not worth rushing a boss before you have better gear.

Races

A race gives passive bonuses and a look. You roll it randomly, and you can change it at the Stylist NPC in the starting town using rerolls from daily rewards or from codes. The chances according to the wiki:

Race Chance
Human 17%
Goblin, Hiveling, Skeleton 15% each
Gemhead, Mushling, Underling, Wraith 8% each
Obelite, Vampire 5% each
Veilborne 1%

There is also the Shrouded race, which according to the wiki you get through a quest, not by rolling. We cover the reroll codes in a separate article, The Veil codes.

Classes, Sins and Offerings

Classes give dodges, auras and abilities. You get them through quests from trainers and pay with one of two currencies:

  • Sins you earn mostly by defeating other players. They pay for the Gladiator, Duskwing and Hive Disciple classes (30 each).
  • Offerings are the currency of "order". They pay for Sky Sentinel, Crusader and Florist (30 each) and Marauder (15).

Good news for calmer players: according to AllThingsHow, PvP is off by default and you can only switch it in the starting town.

Weapons and rare items

Weapons drop from bosses and chests, and sometimes lie on the ground. You take gems to the blacksmith, who puts an enchantment on them for 100 Silver (for example fire, frost, poison). A few items players often ask about:

  • Armageddon is, according to the wiki, a legendary Greatsword from Smelter Demon (1/75 chance). It has 23 base damage and fire attacks.
  • Staff of the False Sun is a legendary mage weapon.
  • Lucky Coin drops from goblins, but with a chance of only 1/2000.

According to the wiki, legendary and higher weapons cannot just be equipped right away like regular ones. You can also find these items in the DzikShop shop:

A few tips for the start

  • Do not fight every boss. Bosses have much more health than regular monsters.
  • Save your Silver. It will come in handy for enchantments when you find a good gem.
  • Upgrade one weapon. It is better to have one strong weapon than five average ones.
  • Learn the maze slowly. It is easy to get lost at night.
