Anime Expeditions beginner guide: step by step (October 2026)

Anime Expeditions is a tower defense game with anime characters: you summon units, place them along the path and stop waves of enemies before they reach your base. The most important tip for starting is this: free rewards and quests for new players first, and only then spend Gems.

What the game is, in short

The game is made by the studio Expeditions Entertainment, and according to the wiki the full release happened on 17 July 2026. Since then there have been several big updates with new maps, raids and units.

The loop is simple. In the lobby you summon units for Gems, upgrade them and pick a mode. In a match you place and upgrade characters using the cash you earn. After a win you collect rewards and strengthen your team for the next map. You can play Story mode with up to 4 players, so friends help a lot.

Plan for your first hour

The Bloxodes and BloxMeta guides agree on the order. In short:

1. Enter the active codes. You get Trait Crystals and rerolls before you spend anything. We keep the current list in the post Anime Expeditions codes.
2. Complete Beginner's Path. It is a tutorial in the form of quests and the main source of Beginner's Tickets.
3. Spend Beginner's Tickets on the Beginner's Banner. This banner is made for new accounts.
4. Build one team for Story and go through the maps in order.
5. Only then Challenges, Expedition and Raids.

It sounds boring, but skipping these steps is the fastest way to end up with zero Gems and a weak team after an hour.

Beginner's Path: your first Mythic for free

Beginner's Path is a permanent event for new players, which you can find in the events tab. It has 5 chapters, and each quest teaches one thing: summoning, clearing an act, equipping gear, rolling a trait or evolving a unit.

According to the wiki, quests give you Gold, Gems, Stat Rerolls and Stat Locks, and finished chapters give bigger packs:

According to the wiki, the tickets from this event are enough to reach the guaranteed Mythic on the Beginner's Banner. This banner has 8 Mythic units that never change, and each has the same chance. BloxMeta also reminds you that you have to claim rewards manually for each quest, they do not get added by themselves.

Banners, Gems and pity

After the tickets you move on to Gems. In the Summon menu (left side of the screen) there are three permanent banners:

• Beginner's Banner: only for Beginner's Tickets, 8 fixed Mythics and lower pity.
• Standard Banner: 3 Mythics that change every half hour. The middle one has a 50% chance, the side ones 25% each (when you hit a Mythic).
• Mini Banner: one Mythic with 100% chance, also changes every half hour. Good when you are hunting a specific character.

The rarity chances are the same on Standard and Mini:

More important than the chances is pity, which is the guarantee. You get a Legendary after 50 summons at the latest (2,500 Gems), and a Mythic after 400 (20,000 Gems). You can see the counter on the banner screen. The VIP gamepass lowers the cost of summons by 20%, so the pity for a Mythic then drops to 16,000 Gems.

Two things worth turning on right away. Auto Sell in the banner settings sells unwanted rarities for Gold so your inventory does not fill up. And Luck Potions (+25%) and Super Luck Potions (+50%) last 10 minutes and stack, but they do not raise the chances for Secret or event units.

Story, the main path

Story is the main mode. According to the wiki the maps in order are School Grounds, Flower Forest, Rose Kingdom, Fairy King Forest, King's Tomb and East Town, and Crimson Shore was added in newer updates. Each map has 5 acts, a Mastery act and Infinite mode.

You can play each act on Normal or Hard. Hard gives more rewards but is harder. BloxMeta advises clearing a map on Normal first and then coming back on Hard.

The best free thing in Story is Star Missions. Every act has quests for stars, and each star is 1 Trait Reroll. On Normal and Hard together that is 6 rerolls from one act.

As for your team: Bloxodes stresses that at the start damage-dealing units matter most, because an enemy that does not die will reach your base anyway. BloxMeta recommends a lineup with one main DPS, one area unit and one cash-generating unit if you have one. When to try the other modes

Bloxodes says that Expedition mode unlocks at player level 20 and Raid at level 25. Raids give gear and Raid Tokens to spend in the raid shop. Challenges are boosted Story acts on Hard. The regular ones can be done once every 30 minutes, and there are also daily and weekly ones with much better rewards. Go in with a plan: know which material you are looking for.

Traits, stats and evolution

This is where it is easiest to burn through resources, so here are a few rules.

You roll Traits in the Trait Reroll machine in the Upgrades zone in the lobby. Each roll costs 1 Trait Crystal. The best traits are very rare:

Unbound	0.1%	+350% DMG, only one such unit per map
Primordial	0.2%	+35% DMG, faster attack, bigger range
Forsaken	0.3%	+35% crit chance and crit damage
Draconic	0.5%	+20% DMG, stronger damage over time, cheaper placement

That is why you should save Trait Crystals for Mythic and Secret units that will stay with you for longer. Each unit has two trait slots and you can switch between them.

Evolution raises every stat of a unit by one grade, for example from A to A+. So the wiki advises rolling good stats first (Stat Rerolls) and only then evolving. Do not evolve random units just because the button is glowing.

Free rewards that are easy to miss

Check these places in the lobby every day:

• Daily Quests: for completing 6 daily quests you get, among other things, 5 Trait Crystals and 1000 Gems.
• Level Milestones: every 5 account levels you collect Gems, Gold and Trait Crystals.
• Index: every new unit in your collection gives extra Gems.
• AFK Chamber: Bloxodes advises going in there when you step away from the computer so rewards keep adding up.

Most common mistakes at the start

• Spending all your Gems at once, without checking what is on the banner and how far you are from pity.
• Rolling traits on starter units that you will replace in a week.
• Selling cash-generating units because they have low damage.
• Upgrading your whole collection instead of the one team you actually play.
• Copying an endgame lineup that you cannot afford in the early waves.
