Fisch is a fishing game: you fish, sell your catch for C$, buy better rods and sail to new islands. Below is everything you need for your first hour, with prices from the official wiki (as of 19 October 2026).

Fisch was made by the Canadian creator WoozyNate and launched on 5 October 2024. According to the official Fisch wiki, it had more than 4.5 billion visits by June 2026, which makes it one of the biggest games on Roblox.
You start on the island of Moosewood. The first NPC you talk to is Pierre, who runs the tutorial. The islands are separated by ocean, so until you buy a boat you stay in Moosewood. That's fine, because everything you need at the start is right there.
The most important places in Moosewood:
- Marc (Merchant): buys fish and sells rods.
- Appraiser: rerolls a fish's weight and mutation (more on that below).
- Angler: gives Angler quests, which give a lot of XP.
- Shipwright: sells boats.
- Bait Crates on the pier.
How to fish in Fisch step by step
Fishing has four stages. It's worth understanding them, because rod stats refer to exactly these stages.
- Casting. Hold the left mouse button (on mobile, your finger on the screen), the power bar fills up, then let go. The moment you release decides the distance. The wiki says a perfect cast (the green zone) probably doesn't affect the later stages.
- Waiting for a bite. The bobber floats on the water. The Lure Speed stat shortens the wait.
- Shake. A Shake button appears on the screen. Every click moves it to a different spot and cuts the wait by 0.5-1.5 seconds. When you see an exclamation mark above your head, a fish has bitten.
- Reeling. A bar with a white slider appears. You hold the button and the slider moves right, you let go and it moves left. You need to keep the fish inside the white zone. While the fish is in the middle, progress goes up, and when it escapes, progress goes down. A full bar means the fish is caught, an empty bar means it got away.
A tip for beginners: by default, clicking next to the Shake button cancels the fishing. In the settings there's an option called "Allow Shake Button Misclicking" that turns this off.
A Perfect catch is catching a fish without losing any progress at all. It gives 1.5x more XP, so it pays to play calmly and carefully.
What the rod stats mean
| Stat | What it does |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | shortens the wait for a bite |
| Luck | increases the chance of rarer fish |
| Control | widens the white slider (with no Control it is 30% of the bar width) |
| Resilience | the fish jumps around less while reeling |
At the start, Control helps the most, because a wider slider means fewer fish getting away.
Your first rods: what to buy and in what order
You start with the free Flimsy Rod. It catches fish, but not well. Marc in Moosewood sells these rods:
| Rod | Price |
|---|---|
| Flimsy Rod | 0 C$ |
| Training Rod | 300 C$ |
| Plastic Rod | 750 C$ |
| Carbon Rod | 2000 C$ |
| Long Rod | 3000 C$ (in the forest, next to the tent) |
| Fast Rod | 4000 C$ |
| Lucky Rod | 4500 C$ |
The most commonly recommended first purchase is the Carbon Rod. According to the wiki, it has 15 Lure Speed, 25 Luck, 0.05 Control, 10 Resilience and can carry up to 600 kg. That's enough to earn money for your next purchases without trouble.
The next step is usually the Steady Rod for 7000 C$. You can buy it on the island of Roslit Bay from an NPC named Alfie. It has negative Lure Speed (-60), but it doubles the size and effectiveness of the Shake button, which makes it easier to play with. You can find a full list of rods for every stage in our separate post about the best rods in Fisch.
Bait: the cheap thing that makes a difference
Bait gives extra Luck, Lure Speed or Resilience. Some fish in Moosewood won't bite at all without the right bait.
The simplest option is to buy a Bait Crate on the pier in Moosewood. One crate costs 120 C$ and gives 2 to 6 random baits, for example Worm, Minnow, Shrimp, Squid or Seaweed. You equip bait in the Equipment Bag.
Selling fish and your first C$
You sell the fish you catch to merchants. In Moosewood that's Marc. You have two options:
- sell the fish you're holding in your hand,
- sell your whole inventory at once.
The merchant won't sell fish marked as favorites when you sell in bulk. That's handy when you catch something rare and want to keep it for the Bestiary or for trading. There are 18 merchants in the game, on almost every larger island.
Appraiser: gambling for the patient
The Appraiser rerolls a fish's weight and mutation, as if you had caught it again. It costs 30% of the fish's current price. A mutation can raise the value a lot, but it can also turn out worse. At the start it's better to save your C$ for a rod. Which mutations exist and how much they multiply is covered in our post about fish mutations in Fisch.
The boat and leaving Moosewood
Boats are sold by the Shipwright. According to the wiki, he talks to players from level 5. The cheapest boat, the Rowboat, costs 400 C$ and has a speed of 25. At level 10 you unlock the Bass Boat for 6000 C$, which is almost twice as fast (45).

Levels: what unlocks
You get XP from fishing, treasure chests (1500-2000 XP), Angler quests, discovering new places (300 XP for each) and filling in the Bestiary. The max level is 2000.
| Level | What you get |
|---|---|
| 5 | Precision Rod and talking to the Shipwright |
| 10 | Bass Boat |
| 15 | trading with other players |
| 25 | Trade Plaza and Personal Aquarium |
| 30 | Pontoon, Pirate Ship, Riptide Rod |
| 50 | entry to The Shady Bazaar |
The Bestiary: an extra goal
The Bestiary is a log of the fish you've caught. Completing an island's section gives XP, and Moosewood is the easiest place to start. A day in the game lasts about 25-30 minutes, and the weather affects what bites, so some fish have to be caught at a specific time.
What's happening in the game right now
On 17 October 2026, update 2.06 launched, which is the FischFright 3 event. It added the Treats currency, new rods (including the Doomsekkar Rod and the Eldritch Rod) and a new location called Caustic Hallow. We cover the details in our post about the Halloween 2026 event in Fisch, and you can find free starter rewards in the current list of Fisch codes.
A plan for your first hour
If you don't want to read everything, stick to this order:
- Finish the tutorial with Pierre in Moosewood.
- Fish with the free Flimsy Rod by the pier and sell your fish to Marc.
- Buy one or two Bait Crates (120 C$ each) and equip bait.
- Save up 2000 C$ and buy the Carbon Rod.
- Do Angler quests and catch things for the Moosewood Bestiary to reach level 5 faster.
- Buy the Rowboat for 400 C$ and sail to Roslit Bay.
- Save up for the Steady Rod (7000 C$) and the Bass Boat (6000 C$, from level 10).
At every stage, mark rare fish as favorites before you sell the rest in bulk. If you want to earn faster, we collect ways to make C$ in a separate post, how to earn C$ fast in Fisch.
The most common beginner mistakes
- Buying everything in order. The Training Rod and Plastic Rod quickly stop being enough. It's better to save for the Carbon Rod.
- Fishing without bait. A 120 C$ crate pays for itself very quickly.
- Selling everything in bulk. Mark rare fish as favorites first.
- Clicking next to the Shake button. Turn on the option that forgives this.
- Giving your password to someone who promises free C$. No honest person needs your password, and the only free rewards come from codes entered in the game itself.
